Poop mania in a museum

Japan has all sorts of museums but this one tops the list of eccentric ones: Unko Museum, aka, Poop Museum. The first of its kind in the world and due to its immense popularity, the one in Yokohama has been extended till September 30, while a new one opens on August 9, 2019, in Odaiba, Tokyo.

This is an experiential museum and you might be wondering what would the exhibits be like in a Poop Museum. So let's take a look at what kind of space the Japanese have tailored for learning about poop. First, you receive instructions from the staff. Pick a seat you like and sit as if you're pooping. When the sound of the water is over, you see a poop of the same color as your seat!

The museum is divided into several areas, and we will discuss several exhibits that we found interesting.

A room full of poop A room filled with poop-shaped lights.

The poop-shaped lamps change color in sync with the rhythm of music. Honestly, we are not quite sure what to make of this room but the reactions of Japanese visitors are hilarious!

Open Mic "Poop" Here, all you do is scream "UNKO" as loudly as you can. After you shout, an image of "poop" will appear on the digital screen, and the image corresponds to the loudness of your voice. The louder your voice, the bigger the image of poop, and vice versa.

Unko Volcano (Poop Volcano) Instead of regular lava, you have poop when this Poop Volcano erupts!

Poop Painting The wall in this room is filled with poop illustrations by Japanese celebrities.

You can also choose a frame with a toilet seat and draw your own poop.

Poop Game Area Have fun with various games like stepping on poop, kicking poop-shaped balls, and plenty of photos with poop!

Poop Artwork Here, you see artwork inspired by poop. Imagination has no bounds, for sure.

Poop Souvenir Shop Coming here, you wouldn't want to miss out on buying some unique "unko" souvenirs. From marshmallows to tote bags, you can choose from a variety of poop souvenirs.

The best way to end your visit to the poop museum is by buying instagenic (or unstagenic) poop souvenirs!
