Yonehana (米花) You can buy a bowl of seared eel placed on rice for 3,500 yen! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the two most popular stores! These two are considered to be the masters of the Tsukiji market sushi restaurant: Sushidai (壽司大) and Daiwa Sushi (大和壽司). The picture was taken at 7:30 in the morning. After the two restaurants moved to Toyosu, they still have customers lining up from early in the morning. We checked out the price at both stores and chose to eat at Daiwasushi. Let’s take a look at the price for Sushidai. Omakase set: 4,500 yen (excl. tax) Daiwa Sushi does not mention any price, you are told only once you are seated. The omakase set price is about 4000 yen (excluding tax). Seasonal ingredients are used so each day the set varies. Usually you get 7 nigiri-zushi, 6 maki-zushi, one seared sushi, and a bowl of miso soup.
Our impression After reading the price list introduced above, you maybe feeling the same as us, that is, the market is really not cheap. Of course, there is nothing but the best to say about the ingredients, but a sushi set is basically between 3,500 and 4,500 yen, which is more expensive than sushi restaurants in high-end department stores. Considering its a wholesale fish market, you would expect the prices to be more budget friendly. So make sure to know what you're getting into if you plan to have a breakfast or lunch at Toyosu Market.
*Note: All the above prices are as of October 17, 2018. For a comprehensive first impression report: Post-Tsukiji: First impressions of the new Toyosu Market
