Everything Pokemon: from stamp rallies to happy meals

Summer in Japan has come to be associated with yellow: from sunflowers to Pokemon! In the Kanto region (east of Japan), every year in summer, Pokemon is seen in abundance. From people finding this cute monster in alleys and parks through Pokemon Go to the super fun event that is popular the world over, Pikachu Outbreak.

So we've covered all the places where you can see Pokemon this summer! Are you worried you can participate in these activities without any Japanese? Don't worry, we have prepared a list of events that all foreigners can enjoy. Even if you are coming to Japan for the first time, even if you don't know anything about Japan, you can follow Pokemon in Japan and have a great time!

JR East Pokemon Stamp Rally The best thing about this stamp rally is that you can easily participate in it. Covering popular stations that tourists visit anyway, you can collect stamps and get a Pokemon prize. See the stamps we collected in a day in our video: Pokemon Stamps

Many stations including Shinjuku, Ueno , Tokyo have the Pokemon stamp corner.

There are a total of 55 stamps but of course that might be unrealistic. Even if you get six stamps, you can collect a prize! We got a card holder. There are also special goal counters.

Official website: Pokemon Stamp Rally JR recommends that you use the JR Tokyo Metropolitan Area Pass, since it is a cost effective way to travel around Tokyo. Pikachu Outbreak The Pikachu Outbreak, in its 5th year, has become one of the most popular summer activities in Japan. Held from August 10 – 16 in 2018, get a dose of Pikachu to your heart’s content. This year’s theme is “SCIENCE IS AMAZING”: through digital technology, you will get a chance to enjoy this event even at night for the first time.

Whether you love Pokemon or not, this is an amazing event to enjoy a day in Yokohama by the sea. This year, you will even see Evee!

McDonald's Pokemon Happy Meal We know visiting McDonald's is not one of the things on your list but if you want to enjoy some Pokemon-related food, this is the place to go. Get a Pokemon Happy Meal (or Happy Set) and win a Poke Ball water pistol or an Evee spinning top!

SHOP! SHOP! SHOP!

For those who don't want to do the stamp rally or visit McDonald's, you can head to 3 Coins, a store where you can buy most things for 300 yen. This summer, you can get umbrellas, wallets, pouches among other things with Pokemon characters. Ideal souvenirs that won't burn a hole in your pocket!
