It's Peppermint day on June 20 in Japan!

Summer in Japan means lots of chocolate mint products! If you're not fond of chocolate and mint as a flavor combination, you should check out all that Japan has in store for you! who knows, you might change your mind. In summer, when the weather gets unbearable, many folks look for mint chocolate treats. Just the thought of eating a mint-flavored ice cream is going to make you feel cool.
In the US, February 19th is celebrated as Chocolate Mint Day. Japan, on the other hand, celebrates Peppermint Day on June 20.
(Kitami Peppermint Memorial Hall) The word for peppermint is "hakka" and the word for 20th is "hatsuka," which is written using the same hiragana. Why June? It's when the peppermint plant is at its best in Kitami-city in Hokkaido!

Gari Gari Kun is an immensely loved popsicle in Japan and its the first time you can try this in the chocolate mint flavor!

Cherio Kakusei Choco Mint (チェリオ 覚醒チョコミント)

A brand new ice cream made with fresh mint and sweet chocolate, the ice cream has chocolate chips and is quite chewy.

Mochi Mochi Chocolate (もちもちショコラ)

A mint-flavored ganache coated with chocolate-flavored mochi!

The Choco Mint (The チョコミント)

A strong flavor of chocolate and mint, these are sold at only at Family Mart, Circle K, Sunkus.

Each package shows the amount of mint flavor. If you aren't a huge fan, you can just get the Koeda!

Chocomint Taiyaki

At Kurikoan, you can get the classic Japanese sweet taiyaki, pancake-like batter stuffed with chocolate chips and mint-flavored an (bean paste). There is also chocolate mint flavored soy milk available at supermarkets and vending machines! You can also find some chocolate mint drinks.
