In summer, when the weather gets unbearable, many folks look for mint chocolate treats. Just the thought of eating a mint-flavored ice cream is going to make you feel cool.
In the US, February 19th is celebrated as Chocolate Mint Day. Japan, on the other hand, celebrates Peppermint Day on June 20.

The word for peppermint is "hakka" and the word for 20th is "hatsuka," which is written using the same hiragana. Why June? It's when the peppermint plant is at its best in Kitami-city in Hokkaido!

At Kurikoan, you can get the classic Japanese sweet taiyaki, pancake-like batter stuffed with chocolate chips and mint-flavored an (bean paste).
There is also chocolate mint flavored soy milk available at supermarkets and vending machines! You can also find some chocolate mint drinks.
