Everyone has their must-see destinations in Tokyo, such as the Tokyo Tower, Sensoji, Imperial Palace among others, but how about doing something a little different? Something that will stimulate your mind while you move through the mind-boggling maze that is Tokyo.
Tokyo Metro The Underground Mysteries 2019 is back this year too -- a puzzle-solving mystery game that will show you a new way to discover this amazing city. As you solve each puzzle, you will visit places that are not on the tourist map making this a truly unique experience for any traveler!

The game can be played either in English, Japanese or Chinese and takes about four to five hours depending on your Sherlock Holmes-like intuition. Intrigued? Then read on!
Schedule
The game kit will be available from October 15, 2019, to February 16, 2020.
Once you buy the kit, you will have 24 hours to solve the puzzle using the 24-hour Tokyo Metro ticket. You can start as soon as you buy the kit or wait till later. The time starts once you put the ticket through the ticket gates the first time. You can solve all of the puzzle in one go or if you get tired, do half of it, sight see and then come back to the rest as long as you don't exceed the 24 hours.
This year, the game kit is available at Tokyo Metro offices at all of the following stations:
Ueno Station, Shinjuku Station, Tokyo Station
Shimbashi Station, Oji Station: Available up to Jan 31, 2020
Kita Senju Station: Only available at the Chiyoda Line's Tokyo Metro Pass Office
Ginza Station, Meiji-Jingumae Station: Only available on Saturday, Sundays & public holidays
Opening hours to purchase: 7:40 am to 8:00 pm
Cost
The game costs 2,400 yen (including tax).
Want to play the game with friends but don't want to spend that much?
No worries! One person can buy the game kit and the others can buy a 600-yen 24-hour ticket (children 300 yen). You can also use your Suica or Pasmo card but it will turn out to be more expensive.
The best part is once you finish the game, you can still use the 24-hour tickets and sightsee for the rest of the day! We'd recommend starting early, so you have the rest of the day to make use of the ticket.
Game Kit
The kit has a guidebook, tracing paper, pencil, a file pack, envelope, puzzle papers, and the 24-hour ticket. The file pack is handy and can be held like a bag while you play. Make sure not to lose anything as each item in the kit is essential for solving the puzzles.

Things to Note
Here are a few things to keep in mind while playing the game.
1. Wear comfortable shoes as the game involves a fair amount of walking.
2. Since its quite cold in Tokyo, dress warm.
3. Take a break, grab something to eat if necessary.
4. The Tokyo Metro staff do not know or have any hints about the puzzle. So please refrain from asking them anything.
5. The game contents remain the same so please do not post pictures or information on social media or blogs that gives away any clues.
6. Make sure to read the instructions thoroughly before proceeding, as there may be vital clues within the items provided.

The file pack converts to a mini folder and you can save it as a memento of your travels around Tokyo.
