Because of its beautiful and majestic building, it has been chosen as "Japan's 100 famous castles" and "Japan's 100 historical parks." Furthermore, it is also known as one of the famous cherry blossom flowers spots in West Japan. Therefore, many people visit here in spring.

Layers of stone walls look like a maze

In the huge territory, paths are made of stone walls that look like a maze. Measuring about 10 m high, stone walls look as if many layers of walls are overlapping from the distance. These massive stone walls are a symbol and particularity of Tsuyama Castle.

Very rare Yagura with a tatami floor

In 2005, Bitchu Yagura with all floors in tatami was reconstructed. It is rare to see a Yagura (tower) where all floors are made of tatami. In fact, not only the rooms but other areas are also filled with tatami. On the wall paper, there are watermarks of the family crest (a distinctive sign of family) of the lord Mori, Tsurunomaru. It is created in great detail, even the handles of doors are meticulously decorated.
