Takaiso no Yu

(Source : マコーの日記)
Takaiso no Yu, an open-air bath, is located in the town of Atagawa along the east coast of Izu Peninsula. The facility is situated along the beach facing the sea of Sagami and equipped with separate changing rooms and bath tubs for men and women. The baths are so close to the ocean that your face may be occasionally doused with sea spray and all you can see in front of you is a vast expanse of ocean. You will be overwhelmed by a sense of openness. The temperature of the hot spring at Atagawa is characteristically high so be sure to take a break on the nearby rock every time your body starts feeling too hot. The swimming pool will also be open during the summer, giving visitors the privilege to enjoy both.

An open-air bath for men

The large bath, capable of accommodating more than 30 bathers with nothing to block your view, gives you a sense of complete openness and freedom. You will be convinced that there is no other place you would rather be. Weather permitting, some of the Seven Islands of Izu can be seen in the distance. This well-reputed hot spring is said to be effective for problems with internal organs and skin, neuralgia and rheumatism.  Feel its curative power.

A highly-private bath for women

An exposed open-bath is not quite a good idea for ladies. Here, at Takaiso no Yu, the women’s bath, unlike men’s, has been carefully designed so there is no visibility from outside. Of course, you still get the same great view of the ocean.

Summer-only swimming pool

Visitors have access to an adjoining swimming pool from late July to the end of August. This is a great option since it not only has the direct view of the ocean but it is usually less crowded than the nearby public beach. Dipping in the pool followed by a relaxing time in the open-air hot spring bath makes for a luxurious get-away.
