Sapporo Maruyama Zoo

Maruyama Zoo is located at the western end of the city of Sapporo, and it has a convenient and easy access. The good point is that you can see the animals native to cold regions such as the spotted seal, snow leopard, lesser panda, and polar bear. You can see them only in cold climates like in Hokkaido. House for Bears from the World

The animal that looks best in cold climates of Hokkaido is the polar bear. Other than them, they also have animals native to Hokkaido like an Ezo brown bear. You can't miss it. In the polar bear house, a zookeeper will explain and show how to feed them.

Lesser Panda

In Kozan-kan at the Wakuwaku Asia Zone, adorable lesser pandas will be eagerly be waiting for you even in the cold. Depending on the season though, there is an event where you can see a zoo attendant feed them with an explanation.

Viewing Animals from the Rest House

The good point of Maruyama Zoo is that it's enjoyable even in the freezing winters of Hokkaido. There are two rest houses on the site where you can watch animals while you take some rest indoors. It's amazing that you can watch the animals up close. There are two other rest houses as well.
