To view Owakudani, another option is to take the Hakone Ropeway and pass over Owakudani than to get there on foot. You can enjoy the entire view of Owakudani. Hakone Ropeway runs between Sounzan Station and Togendai Station. You should check it out.

Kuro tamago is sold at Gokuraku-jaya, a tea house, is the most popular local delicacy. Eggs turn inky black by the chemical reaction of gas and geothermal heat from the valley. It is said that eating one kuro tamago will extend your life by seven years! If you want to eat to your heart's content, the Gokuraku-don (paradise bowl), rice bowl with Ebi-ten (shrimp tempura) and a half-done egg on top is recommended.
