Located at the southern foot of Mt. Ishizuchi, Omogokei is the largest gorge in Shikoku District, which is designated a national scenic site and shrouded by the old growth forest. It is full of sheer cliffs, waterfalls, and oddly-shaped rocks, and autumn leaves are stunning in fall. There are two trails to walk along; one is Honryu (main stream) Route that has scenic beauty spots, such as Goshiki-kawara (riverbed) and Momiji-gawara (autumn leaf riverbed). The other trail is the tranquil and relaxing "Teppo Route" along the Teppo River. Both are cool in summer, and a lot of people visiting in fall to see the autumnal foliage.
