Many restaurants, offering local dishes, are spotted around Beppu Kankou Port, which is the entrance to the sea in Oita, where ships from Japan or overseas arrive. Among them, Mingeichaya Ajikura is the best place to visit. The restaurant is located in an old folk house and offers the dishes, using fresh local ingredients such as Oita’s premium beef, called Bugo beef and local chicken. Ajikura also offers a wide range of drinks at reasonable prices. The restaurant is especially popular among locals.
