Oldest church in Karuizawa: Karuizawa Shaw Memorial Chapel
This church was built in 1895 by Alexander Croft Shaw, a Canadian minister. He is the man who promoted Karuizawa as a summer retreat and is called the "Father of Karuizawa." Shaw's cottage was rebuilt to be used as a memorial hall at the back of the church.
