The Kure Haikara Shokudo is a restaurant located in the naval town of Kure that recreates the nostalgic period of rapid economic growth that occurred around 1950. This restaurant has a unique menu based on research of the navy's culinary methods bringing the food culture that supported Japan’s former navy. Starting with the fruity curry which is most representative of naval gourmet, many other high volume dishes are available including chicken rice and omu-rice (rice-filled omelet). The restaurant is divided into two sections of a 180 seat large dining hall and a 40 seat submarine themed floor. Here you can also find other local specialties like the cold ramen “kure reimen.”
