Kabushima

(Source : yahoo!ブログ)
Kabushima is a small island that has a diameter of 800 meters with a height of 20 meters located in Samemachi, Hachinohe, Aomori. Although it is called an island, technically it is a landfill and now is connected to the main land. This island is famous as the breeding site of Umineko, black tailed gull, designated as a Japanese natural monument. Tens of thousands of Umineko come from the South and lay eggs in the middle of March every year. In April, when the yellow flower of Kabu blooms, chicks are born and fly away to the South later in summer, when they are ready to fly. Tens of thousands flying Umineko are worth seeing!

Approximately 40,000 black-tailed gulls

When you enter the island, black-tailed gulls, said to be a messenger of the God, will welcome you. Approximately 40,000 black-tailed gulls come to the island around March and head North in the beginning of August. It looks like white flowers are blooming when you look at the island from the distance. You can also see chicks closely.
