Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Traditional Arts and Crafts

Kanazawa is the town of traditional craft. Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Traditional Arts and Crafts introduces 36 designated traditional crafts of Ishikawa prefecture including the creation process. Many types of wonderful crafts such as Kaga Yuzen, one of the technique of dyeing silk, Kanazawa Haku, the golden leaves, and Mizuhiki, the decorative cords, and articles are classified into groups such as clothes, food, shelter, prayers, entertainment, sounds and festivals are exhibited here. Introducing different cutting-edge crafts in the special exhibition each month, it also has a museum shop that sells distinctive products which is one of the highlights of this museum. On weekends, demonstrations and workshops of traditional crafts are held.

The museum shop that sells different fashionable items is one of the highlights of this museum where you are provided with a one-of-a-kind modern-arranged traditional crafts. Pieces are also sold in collaboration with the special exhibition.

Craft workshops by qualified traditional craftsmen

On Saturdays and Sundays, demonstrations and workshops by qualified traditional craftsmen are held. You can try to make traditional crafts. They hold seasonal workshops such as Shugi bukuro, the Japanese envelope for wedding celebrations, and Mizuhiki, decorative Japanese cord made from twisted paper.
