”HIDA FREE TOUR” is the Hida area version of “Free Walking Tour” now popular in Europe. It is a walking tour to visit some historical spots that only locals know about and places popular among locals. The tour covers the areas of Takayama city where old streetscapes still remain, Shirakawa-go that is designated as a world heritage site, and Hida city where a stream of clear water runs through the town of storehouses with white walls. All the local guides are deeply attached to this area and introduce you to a more interesting Hida.

What is the Free Walking Tour?

”Free Walking Tour” is a free walking tour originally started in Europe. The people who live in the area conduct the tour as guides to introduce more authentic attractions of the area than usual sightseeing tours. Although the tour is free, it is a rule to donate some money that you think is worth the tour.

Attractions of Hida Area

Most courses are held in Takayama city, Shirakawa village and Hida city. Takayama city has the streetscape of Edo period preserved and very popular especially among foreign tourists, Shirakawa village has the world heritage site, Shirakawa-go, and Hida city has an area of storehouses with white walls.
