“HIDA COOKING CLASS” is a cooking class held in Hida Furukawa area. The main concept for this class is to “learn local cooking from local people in their homes.” The program starts with harvesting vegetables at the farm before the cooking lesson followed by tasting. The lesson is held at homes of locals, so you can learn their way of living and culture as well as the cooking itself. The program is conducted either in English or Japanese.

The participants of “HIDA COOKING CLASS” meet at JR Hida Furukawa station and move to the community garden nearby by car. They can harvest fresh vegetables grown by local farmers and draw spring water for cooking in the rich nature of Hida Takayama area.

Learn Japanese Food Culture Face-to-Face

The lesson is conducted by local housewives who have been cooking for their families every day for years. The face-to-face lesson at their own kitchen is easy to understand even for beginners. The tasting time with everyone is another fun point of this program.

Details of the Program

The program starts at 10:35 at Hida Furukawa station every day. After visiting the community garden, the cooking lesson and tasting time takes place roughly from 11:00 to 14:00. A ride will be provided back to Hida Furukawa station at the end of the program. Private classes are available too.
