Hakuto Shrine was elected as the first “Lover’s sanctuary” in Japan in 2010, because of the story of Inaba no Shirousagi. As it got more popular as a divine spot for love, they now have a heart-shaped ema. Why don’t you write your wish on an ema as a memory of visiting this shrine?

After you go through the shrine gate, you’ll see stone rabbit statues with different expressions and poses on both sides of the approach. When you look at them carefully, you can see many white stones that has the Chinese character “縁”, which literary means “bond,” in red. These stones are called “Musubi Ishi” and it is said if you put this stone with a wish, it will come true. Musubi Ishi is sold at Shamusho, the shrine office.

Since this is the shrine of love, they have a lot of adorable charms and fortune-telling paper. “Shirousagi Mikuji”, which is in the shape of a rabbit, is especially popular. The fortune-telling paper is inside the rabbit and some people buy many of them because of its cuteness. The charms that have a knot in the shape of rabbit ears are also popular.
