Chikura no Iwaya Cave

Chikura no Iwaya is an enormous cave that is located at Hamada Beach in Minamitane-cho, Kagoshima prefecture. This is a sea cave that was formed by the action of waves. The name was given for its gigantic size, which literally means "1,000 people could sit down." The entire cave appears at low tide, and it can be accessed from the sea. The interior branches off into many chambers, and it is cool inside even on a hot summer day. From the outside, the cave looks like a monster drinking water, the cave entrance is like an open mouth, making this an interesting natural wonder.
