America Mura

America Mura is the district between Shinsaibashi Station on Midosuji subway and Yotsuhashi Station on Yotsuhachi subway. This was originally a warehouse district, but became famous for youth culture of Kansai, western Japan, in the 1970s. Since many shops that sell clothes from the West Coast of the United States and Hawaii popped up in this area, the district came to be called America Mura, which literary means American village in Japanese. The center of America Mura is a park which has the nickname “Sankaku-koen”, triangle park, and the park is crowded with young people day and night.
