Zojoji

Zojoji is a temple with a 600-year history that developed significantly during the Edo period when Tokugawa Shogunate brought back Buddhism. Six shogun rest in this place. Since it was the favorite temple of Tokugawa shogun, it is known as a spiritual place to drive away evil spirits. It is also famous for a big event called Setsubun, which is a bean throwing festival in Japan, and is held on February 3 every year.

Senda Kosodate Jizo Son

Started in 1975, Senda Kosodate Jizo Son now exists because people placed stone statues of children, wishing and praying for a healthy birth and for good health of children. The heads of the stone statues are covered with red knit caps. People come here to see many jizo statues lined up. You can feel the wishes of parents as you see all the statues standing quietly in this place.

Sangedatsumon

Chosen as an important cultural property of Japan, Sangedatsumon has a 400-year history. It is thus named because it is said that you can get rid of three human passions - greed, anger and stupidity - when you walk through this gate. Make sure to take your time to admire this important gate.

Since Zojoji is situated close to Tokyo Tower, it is a famous spot for taking pictures of the temple with Tokyo Tower in the background. Even though the sight is beautiful during the day, it is even better to take pictures when the tower is illuminated at night.
