Tempura Seiju

(Source : )
This tempura restaurant received a Michelin star in 2015. There are only 13 counter seats, and the restaurant follows a strict reservation-only policy. The menu is limited to a fixed course of about 13 dishes featuring tempura at its best. The crispy batter fried in pure sesame oil seals in flavors of the juicy ingredients. Only the finest seasonal ingredients are used and therefore, the dishes will vary on the time of year. You will experience "daigomi," the true charm of Japanese cuisine that treasures the seasonality of ingredients.

Flavor of the Season

All the ingredients are selected personally by the chef at Tsukiji Market, where you can buy local as well as ingredients from all over Japan. He strictly selects ingredients that are at the peak of the season. Witness this chef's passion for tempura that he has crafted over the past 10 years.

Only One Course!

There is only one option on the menu called "Course" (about 13 dishes for 16,200 yen). A variety of appetizers and sashimi are served, but the main dish will certainly be tempura. You will be impressed by the artisan's technique of frying ingredients when they are the best. Make sure to try Tendon (mixed tempura over rice) or Tencha (rice and mixed tempura with tea poured over it).

Observe the Artisan's Technique at the Counter

One of the interesting things at a tempura restaurant is watching the chefs demonstrating a skilled performance of cooking the tempura. Since there are only counter seats at the restaurant, the chef carefully times the service of the food to maximize the guests' dining experience. This is the spirit of Japanese hospitality!
