Takezushi

(Source : 食べログ)
Included with the morning market in Hakodate and the Nijo fish market in Sapporo as the top three markets in Hokkaido is the Washo fish market in Kushiro, which is composed of about 60 stores lined together that deal with fresh fish and seafood as well as meat and vegetables. The Washo fish market is lovingly considered the Kushiro locals’ "kitchen" and inside is a special spot we really want to recommend that was established in 1978, the long-standing sushi restaurant, Takezushi! The restaurant is inside of the market so the fish for sushi is as fresh as possible and offered for reasonable prices. The menu is full of delicious dishes featuring all kinds of seafood caught by the locals including botan ebi (jumbo sweet shrimp) and otsubu ikura (large drop salmon roe) that are so massive they literally overflow from the rice they are topped upon.

All of the fish for sushi is procured from the market!

“The local fish is fresh and cheap” is the motto of Takezushi whose master chef gets his top-grade sushi fish himself every morning from the market! Here, you can enjoy seafood that is offered for reasonable prices and carefully selected according to the season including specialties like squid in summer, salmon roe and scallops in fall, and surf clams in winter.
