Rikugien is a garden built more than 300 years ago and it immediately found praise for its beauty by those who visited it back in the day. It took the leaders of the Edo period seven years to built this garden. Now, it is chosen as one of Japan's special scenic beauties that presents the poetic sense of garden planners. The garden's beauty varies according to season: cherry blossom trees in spring, hydrangea in summer, autumn foliage in fall, and snow in winter. It is a perfect place for a romantic date, since you will feel that time stands still here. Coming alone is also an excellent idea, you can get in touch with your inner self amidst Japanese beauty.

Cherry blossoms

The best season to see the famous weeping cherry blossom tree is at the end of March. Weeping cherry blossom trees look as if a pink waterfall is descending from the sky. The fully bloomed cherry blossoms can only be seen during a short period of time. Therefore, you might want to check when to visit beforehand and you can also check the flower blooming information.

Autumn leaves

Autumn leaves are as beautiful as cherry blossom flowers in spring. There are approximately 560 trees inside the garden, that change their color in fall. The garden is illuminated at night, which makes the place even more beautiful. Some people visit here two times in one day - morning and night - to see the beautiful color of leaves.
