Restaurant Toyoken

(Source : 食べログ)
Restaurant Toyoken is a long-established Chinese restaurant located in Beppu, Oita. The restaurant was opened by a chef who had served an emperor in 1926. Restaurant Toyoken is known as the first restaurant opened in Oita and also as the place where Oita’s specialty was created: Toriten (tempura-style fried chicken). Although a bit further away from JR Beppu Station, the restaurant is always crowded with customers from Japan and overseas who want to sample the primordial Toriten. Lines of customers form every day in front of the restaurant before it opens, even on weekdays. It is recommended to visit the restaurant at an early time!
