Odawara Castle

Odawara Castle in Odawara city was used by the Hojo clan in the past. It is loved by the people of Odawara even now and is symbolic. The castle is situated on a hill and its castle-tower, the highest point of the castle has a great panoramic view of Odawara city. In the castle, there are exhibits of old swords and bows from the Sengoku period and some portraits of the previous owners of this castle. This is a valuable place to learn the history of Odawara Castle.

Castle-tower

The castle-tower of Odawara Castle is at an altitude of 60 meters. You can see not only the premises of the castle, but also the city of Odawara and even Sagami bay from the castle-tower. Make sure to climb right up to the castle-tower on your visit.

Tokiwagi-mon

Tokiwagi-mon is a gate situated in front of the castle. It was reconstructed in 1971 to reproduce the original design. It is bigger than other gates and its massive shape overwhelms visitors who stand in front of it.
