Lake Suwa

Lake Suwa is situated about the center of Nagano. It is also a major sightseeing spot that has hot springs gush out everywhere in town. Around the lake is a place with a gorgeous view scattered with museums, a miso factory, and shops and so on. The lakeside is a relaxing place for locals to walk the dog and jog. Blending with the local people’s lives is the great point about Lake Suwa.

Suwa Lakeside Park

Suwa Lakeside Park is a park that is long from north to south, situated on the east side of Lake Suwa. It has pleasure boats, a yacht harbor, a foot bath, promenade, and large lawn area. The foot bath serves as a place you take a short rest free of charge.

Pleasure Boats and Other Boats

There are pleasure boats in the shape of a swan and a turtle, a house boat, and some foot rowing boats where you can enjoy the scenery while gliding over the lake. The panoramic view and the cool breeze that runs over the Lake Suwa are a great combination. Night cruising is highly recommended too.

One of Japan’s Largest Fireworks Festival!

Lake Suwa Fireworks Festival is held on August 15th every year. It is one of Japan’s largest firework festivals that sets off about 40,000 fireworks. It is also regarded as one of two great fireworks festivals in Suwa along with the new fireworks competition held in early September.
