Kokyo Gaien

(Source : )
Kokyo Gaien National Garden, situated outside the Imperial Palace, is a extensive park surrounded by an abundance of nature that makes people forget they are in the center of a big city. There are structures from the Edo period such as gates, bridges, yagura (turrets or watchtower), and also a rest house. The park is crowded with many visitors on a fine day. The sidewalk surrounding Kokyo Gaien is popular for jogging and running. Since the road is well-paved, it is quite convenient even for foreign joggers.

Precious historical buildings

In the park, many historical remains can be seen including the most famous place in Kokyo Gaien, Nijubashi (bridge), the only Fushimi-yagura in Japan that has a unique structure and was a symbol of Edo Castle in that period.
