Kids’ Ninja Village

The “Kids’ Ninja Village” is a ninja theme park based on the legendary Togakushi ninjas that were active during the Warring States period of Japan. Here one can dress up in ninja costumes (for an additional fee) and can find many kid ninjas around the park grounds. There are also costumes for adults so anyone can enjoy becoming a ninja. You can find many real ninja obstacle courses where it’s possible to fall into the water, so best to be safe and get changed into a real ninja outfit so you don’t need to worry about getting dirty. Turn into a ninja and enjoy moving around in the great outdoors to your heart’s content!

Real “Ninja Show”

Based on the Togakushi ninja style, ninja shows are performed by the trained Kagero ninja group. Here, one can see many beautifully conditioned ninja techniques displayed throughout the show revealing no waste in movement. Kids and adults alike are sure to enjoy the show.

There is also a place to try your hand at ninja projectile weapons like throwing stars and blow darts. Enjoy your training with games such as the “Shuriken Nage” where you can receive prizes by hitting three out of seven ninja stars into the target. Located 10 minutes away by car is the Ninja Trick House. Pass through the stairs and mazes to hidden rooms, and enjoy the game-themed attractions of the ninja house. One can also find over 500 ninja goods and pictures on display in the adjoining museum.

Togakushi Shrine

Located at a two minute drive away is the Togakushi Shrine. With over two thousand years of history carved into this shrine, it is one of the most sacred places in the world. One can feel the might of this power spot from the giant 400-year-old cedar trees that line the 2 km path on both sides. Steeped in the power and abundance of nature, this is certainly a special place to experience the sacred.

30 minute drive from JR Kurohime Station. From JR Nagano Station take a bus headed for Togakushi Kyanpu-jo (Togakushi Camp Site) for 60 minutes and get off at “Naka-yashiro Miya-mae” from which it is a 15-min walk.
