Kaimondake

Kaimondake is located at the southern tip of Satsuma Peninsula in Kagoshima prefecture. The elevation of the mountain peak is 924 m. It is also called "Satsuma Fuji" for its well-balanced, conical shape. The area is full of a tropical atmosphere, and there are many viewing spots for the ocean and the mountain. Beautiful flowers also can be seen at the foot of the mountain. Canola flowers turn the skirt of the mountain a beautiful yellow in January through February, and it is covered with stunning cosmos in fall. Kaimondake is a symbol of Satsuma Peninsula.

Lake Ikeda

Lake Ikeda is a caldera lake that is situated at the foot of Kaimondake. It is the biggest lake in Kyushu, and its circumference is 15 km. When you see Kaimondake from Lake Ikeda, it looks mystical covered with fog. A mysterious view of the lake and the mountain can be enjoyed from here.
