Hakone Botanical Garden of Wetlands

Hakone Botanical Garden of Wetlands is the first wetland botanical garden in Japan. There are as many as 1,700 varieties of plants in the large garden. Of them, 200 are wetland plants and you can see flowers and trees floating in the water. There are paths to walk around in the garden and observe the plants and creatures up close. It opens from sometime in March to November every year. Please note that it closes in winter.

Appreciate Plants

There are a huge variety of plants in the garden and no matter when you go, there will always be some flowers in their full glory in each season. You can see the different kind of flowers depending on the season you visit. There are many repeat visitors because of this. You can also see many birds and insects inhabiting this garden.

Scenery in the Garden

The most attractive thing of this facility is its beautiful scenery. The colorful flowers of red, yellow, and blue bloom around the green grass and the high mountains surrounding the whole garden. Take some time to stroll around in nature and enjoy taking pictures of your favorite sites.

Access

From Hakone-yumoto Station of Hakone Tozan Railway, take Hakone Tozan bus bound for Kojiri, Togendai. It takes 25 minutes. Get off at Sengoku-Annaijo-mae bus stop. Walk for 8 minutes.
