A popular spot: Ashino Park
Ashino Park with a lake covers an area of 80 hectares. 1,500 cherry blossom trees and 1,800 pine trees spread along the lakeside, and the park is selected in Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots. This place is well known as the part where Dazai Osamu, Japanese famous novelist, played here when he was a boy. So there are monuments of his work and a statue. There are also museums of history and folk, the birthplace statue of Tsugaru-jamisen (Japanese string instrument), kids zoo, community square and auto-camping site, and loved among locals as a recreation spot.

Tsugaru Railway: a prime spot for train fans
Tsugaru Railway runs between Tsugaru Goshogawara Station (the same concourse as Goshogawara Station on JR Gono Line) and Tsugaru Nakasato Station. The train has a heater inside, a trademark of Tsugaru Railway. Since the train attendant introduces the history of the line in the train, this is a prime spot for train fans.

All day fun at Jusanko
Jusanko is the lake where Iwaki river ends up, a river which starts on Mt. Iwaki and runs through Tsugaru plain fields. This is a brackish lake wherein fresh water and sea water are mixed, and is well known as one of the best production area of Asian clam in Japan. Since there are museums of history and folk culture, and other recreational facilities, this is the popular sightseeing spot where you can have fun all day.

Tachineputa Festival
Tachineputa Festival is one of the three Nebuta festivals in Aomori and is held at the beginning of August. Three Tachineputa come out from Tachineputa no Yakata during the festival. The biggest one is 23 meters high. It is said that the moving Tachineputa, with a height of a 7-storied building, looks like a scene from a Japanese special effects movie. This is a popular festival among many visitors.

Tachineputa no Yakata
This is a cultural facility which has permanent exhibitions about Tachineputa. They exhibit articles in many ways such as a video of the festival on screen. The highlight of this facility is a 4-story exhibition room with a vaulted ceiling. You can see a 23-meter-tall Tachineputa up close.
