Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden to start selling tickets online (Tokyo)

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is one of Tokyo's largest and most popular parks, which is also a very popular spot among foreign tourists.

Currently tickets are only available at park gates, and during cherry blossom-viewing season in spring waiting times can be more than an hour. To solve this issue, Environment Minister of Japan, Shinjiro Koizumi announced that the park will start selling tickets online from November 28, 2019.

You can purchase your tickets online from asoview (in Japanese) using credit or debit cards. A QR code will be provided and you can enter the park by showing it at the gate.

Also, from late February next year (2020), cashless payment services will be offered at the gate on a trial basis, allowing visitors to use credit cards, e-money cards like Suica prepaid card or smartphone-based payments using QR codes. With these new additions, entering Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden will be much easier!
