Traffic Regulations on October 22, day of the Enthronement Ceremony (Tokyo)

This year is the first year of Reiwa and finally, the time for the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito has arrived. On October 22, 2019 (Tue), an enthronement ceremony will take place in the Imperial Palace of Tokyo.

Dignitaries from various countries will be visiting Tokyo from October 20 - 25 and therefore, major traffic restrictions will be imposed in the central area of Tokyo, especially close to the Imperial Palace and Haneda Airport as well as along the Metropolitan Expressway.

If you plan to visit the airport by bus or taxi, please make sure to leave earlier than necessary!
