Ride with Gudetama, Japan's famous lazy egg, in Tokyo
From Hello Kitty on a shinkansen (bullet train) to Kumamon on the Ginza Line, Japan has a love affair with mascots and characters featuring on trains.
Last time, we saw Rilakkuma, the cutest of bears on the Yamanote Line in Tokyo.
This time, its the Seibu Railway that celebrates five years since the inception of Gudetama, everyone's beloved lazy egg.
In addition to celebrating the 5th anniversary of Gudetama, this remake also celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Seibu Railway's Smile Train.
This train runs on the Shinjuku Line (新宿線) and the Haijima Line (拝島線) from mid-August to November, 2018. After which it will be back on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line (西武池袋線) till the end of December.
The front and back of the train are the cutest with Gudetama's face! The outside shows various images portraying classic Gudetama characteristics.
On the inside as well you see Gudetama poking his head from the sides of seats and from above the racks. Each image has a Gudetama line like "Eh, why do you have to go out?" "I'm tired."
On the glass of the door, Gudetama asks you to be careful so as not to get any objects caught between the doors!
