Getting to Hakuba Iwatake Ski Resort

Reaching Hakuba Iwatake Ski Resort is a seamless and flexible journey, regardless of your starting point in Japan. Here’s a guide to the most convenient routes:

From Tokyo: Take the shinkansen (bullet train) to Nagano Station. From there, transfer to a bus that goes directly to Hakuba Village. If you take the Super Azusa from Shinjuku Station, transfer at Matsumoto Station and get off at Hakuba Station. From here, take a bus to Hakuba Iwatake Ski Resort. This entire trip typically spans 3 to 4 hours, making it a popular and efficient route for Tokyo departures.

From Nagoya or Osaka: First take the JR Shinano Line to Matsumoto Station, then change to the Oito Line or Chuo Limited Express Line to Hakuba Station. Transfer to a bus in front of the station, which arrives at Hakuba Ski Resort in about 10 minutes. From these cities, travel time may be slightly longer, around 5 to 6 hours.

Bus Service: The main transportation hub near Hakuba Iwatake Ski Resort is Hakuba Happo Bus Stop. From Nagano Station, there is a regular bus service directly to the ski resort, which takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Although Hakuba Iwatake Ski Resort is located in a mountainous area, a variety of transportation options make getting there convenient and flexible.
