Hida Takayama Museum of Art is a museum that contains approx. 1000 pieces of art, mainly glass art and furniture. The most famous collection of this museum is glass art between 16th to 20th centuries, including the works of French glass artist, Emile Galle. This museum has received three stars in the Michelin guidebook in 2007 and in 2009. It is a popular tourist spot, not only among Japanese tourists, but among tourists from other countries.

Beautiful breathtaking glass art

There are various beautiful glass artworks exhibited in this museum. One of the must-see artworks is "The Fountain of The Champs-Élysées Shopping Arcade"! From this rare fountain made of glass, water trickles out every 10 min from the top. Further, the ceiling changes into seven different colors at intervals.

In Decorative and Applied Art Rooms, furniture - mainly from Europe such as France and England - are exhibited. The dining room with collected furniture by Scottish architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, is highly praised.
