Enoshima Aquarium

Enoshima Aquarium is located at the gateway to Enoshima. Since its reopening after renovation in 2004, many people visit this aquarium to see the exhibition related to Sagami Bay that spreads in front of the aquarium. On fine days, Enoshima, Mt. Fuji and Sagami Bay can be seen as a background for exciting shows of dolphins and sea lions. You can also see lovely sea turtles from Sagami Bay and feel the therapeutic effects of jellyfish at Jellyfish Fantasy Hall. They have gift shops that offers goods associated with sea creatures as well as cafes.

Dynamic Dolphin Shows

The dolphin show can be seen with the background of Enoshima, Sagami Bay, and Mt. Fuji. They have two kinds of dolphin shows. The theme for the show performed everyday is “Kizuna” (bonding) and another show performed on weekends and holidays is a musical called “Dolferia Harmony.” Both shows are fantastic and you can even shake hands with dolphins. (The first 30 people can purchase tickets for 500 yen per person.)

The exhibition that is unique to this place, ”Sagami Bay zone” is the exhibition about Sagami Bay that spreads in front of this aquarium. The big tank that recreates the conditions of Sagami Bay even has the sea turtles in it, and a school of sardines powerfully swim around in clusters.

Jellyfish Fantasy Hall is a half dome shaped space imitating the body of jellyfish. The whimsical view of jellyfish swaying in the tank has therapeutic effects. “Kurage (jellyfish) Planet” is a spherical tank located in the center of the hall. It was designed to exhibit jellyfish in the most beautiful manner. They always have 14 kinds of jellyfish displayed.

Strolling around Enoshima

After having fun at Enoshima Aquarium, you should go across Enoshima bridge and stroll around Enoshima. There is Enoshima-jinja, an observation deck, and some restaurants that offer the specialty in Enoshima, shirasu (young, white fish) dishes and seafood. Enjoy eating and walking around.
