Enoshima Dentetsu is nicknamed "Enoden" and beloved by locals and tourists alike. This local train conveniently networks major tourist destinations in Kamakura and Enoshima. The retro trains connect a 10 km railway between Kamakura Station and Fujisawa Station. Passengers enjoy the beautiful ocean and the seaside scenery from the train. Enoden is very popular because just taking a ride on Enoden makes you feel like you are on a holiday. Let's go on board Enoden and visit the charming area while feeling the sea breeze.

One Day Pass "Noriori Kun"

If you decide to go sightseeing on Enoden, we recommend to get a one day pass called Noriori Kun. The pass allows you to ride the train as many times as you want in one day on all sections of the Enoden Line. It's a very good deal! The fares are 600 yen for adults and 300 yen for children.

Kamakura Station - Tsuruoka Hachimangu

Located within a 10-minute walk from Kamakura Station, Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine was built in 1063. This shrine is a symbol of the historic city, Kamakura, and it is associated with the first shogun of the Kamakura shogunate, Minamoto no Yoritomo. The shrine holds many Important Cultural Properties in its precincts. Beautiful seasonal flowers can be enjoyed throughout the year such as cherry blossoms and wisterias in spring as well as autumn leaves in fall.

Wadatsuka Station - Mushinan

Mushinan is a cafe that serves Japanese sweets and stands right by the railway. Customers go down from the station's platform, and then cross the railroad and enter the cafe. Its signature menu is "Cream anmitsu" which is made of ice cream, jelly, sweet bean paste, mochi and a variety of fruit (800 yen). It has the right amount of sweetness to it.

Hase Station - Kotokuin

The Great Buddha at Kotokuin is known as one of Japan's two Great Buddhas along with the Great Buddha of Nara. It measures 11.31 m in height and 121 tons in weight. It is said that it took five years to complete. The Great Buddha at Kotokuin is designated as a National Treasure. The interior of the Buddha is hollow and visitors enter inside.

Hase Station - Goryo Jinja

Enoden and the tori (shrine gate) can be seen together in one frame at Goryo Jinja. Many people visit here to take photos of this rare collaboration.

Gokurakuji Station - Hydrangea at Jojuin

In the rainy season of June, colorful hydrangeas are in full bloom in various places alongside of Enoden Line. Especially beautiful are the hydrangeas at Jojuin which is located at just a 5-minute walk from Gokurakuji Station. Visitors can enjoy Yurigahama Beach and the stunning hydrangeas at the same time.

Inamuragasaki Station - Sunset Over Sea of Shonan

A beautiful sunset can be seen from many places from Enoden via a train passing by the ocean. Above them all, the sunset view from Inamuragasaki is breathtaking. The sun is setting over the ocean alongside the silhouette of Mt. Fuji. It is truly a romantic sight.

Kamakura High School Station - Slam Dunk's Railroad Crossing

The crossing is considered as a sacred place among anime (Japanese comic) enthusiasts as it appears on the opening of the popular anime "Slam Dunk." The tiny crossing draws fans from all over the world. When you stand here, you will feel like you are in the opening scene of the comic.

Koshigoe Station - Famous Shirasu Dishes

The area of Kamakura and Enoshima is known for shirasu (baby of sardine, sweetfish or eel). It is especially popular in Koshigoe. Visitors can savor raw shirasu that can be consumed only when fresh. Shirasuya is located in front of the fishing port of Koshigoe. The restaurant offers a wide variety of shirasu dishes and draws many customers every day.

Enoshima Station - Enoshima Aquarium

Located right by the Enoshima entrance, Enoshima Aquarium is a popular aquarium that has displays under the theme of Sagami Bay spreading out below it. On a sunny day, visitors can enjoy dynamic shows of dolphins and sea lions against the background of Mt. Fuji and Sagami Bay. The Jellyfish Fantasy Hall has a soothing and fascinating display of jellyfish.

Enoshima Station - Enoshima

Enoshima has always been a popular tourist destination. It has appeared numerous times in ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock print) in the Edo Period. Enoshima is not a big island (circumference of about 4 km), but it is full of points of interest such as Enoshima Jinja and Enoshima Lighthouse Observation Tower. It also offers various reasonable street food that is perfect for munching.
